It’s time to take major action on CSHB 3703 with PTSD and intractable pain.

Do your part and make your voice heard by the people elected to represent you.

On May 17, 2019, the Texas Senate committee of Health & Human Service voted unanimously to approve Committee Substitute HB 3703, which will expand the Texas Compassionate Use Program. Some good to come out of the bill was that it was amended so that it attempts to protect doctors by defining “prescription” as an entry into the Compassionate Use Registry, removes the requirement for approval from a second physician. But it failed to add PTSD and intractable pain.

The vote on the bill from the committee was unanimous approval. This is a historic step forward in changing Texas’ current law, which currently allows only those with intractable epilepsy to receive cannabis as a medication.

Now that the bill has made it out of the senate committee, it will move on to the Senate calendar committee and to a floor vote. But veterans and first responders are being left behind along with countless others. Your help is needed. 22+ veterans a day commit suicide from PTSD and intractable pain treatable by medicinal cannabis. Tell your senator that you support changing the law, and that you wish for them to do the same by adding these two conditions by amendment during floor debate. Below you will find multiple options you can use to help citizens in Texas.
